I am a currently a third year who is finishing my second last rotation on June 14th, then I have a 2 week break followed by my obgyn core rotation until July 26. I have two weeks after my obgyn rotation when I have it off and I am taking my step 2 on aug 9th and level 2 on aug12th. I have been doing uworld during 3rd year here and there. I had a few questions regarding how to proceed further:
1) Would it be beneficial to create a test for all the wrong questions on uworld vs going through the flashcards on uworld which has their tables.
2) Should I do the second pass on uworld by resetting only after addressing the wrong questions first?
3) During my two week break, would it be a good strategy to a dedicate two full days for reading the step2ck book or watching OMED videos or DIT videos ? Is it best to use these resources when I get a question wrong instead of just reading them for the sake of completing it.
Thanks for reaching out and congratulations on almost being done with third year!
1) For most students, I find it's more helpful for you to make your own Anki flashcards based on the questions you get wrong in UWorld AFTER doing a reset at the start of your dedicated period, rather than re-doing those incorrect questions. See this post for advice on making good cards: https://www.usmlepro.com/upro-blog/how-to-make-effective-anki-cards-to-prepare-for-the-usmle
2) I suggest doing a reset at the start of dedicated and focusing on the incorrects from that second pass. It can be difficult to do two passes in two weeks and you may want to consider giving yourself more time. Be sure to make your blocks completely random and to do them in Timed (not Tutor) mode! The necessity of full second pass + flashcard method depends on a variety of factors, like your Step 1 score and Step 2 CK goal.
3) In my opinion, there aren't any available Step 2 CK books that are worth reading (including FA for Step 2 CK) for the vast majority of students. I don't recommend DIT. Select free OME videos can be helpful to supplement your weakest areas (i.e., lowest UWorld subject percentiles).
Hope this helps, good luck!
